After nearly a week with little activity to report on Taylor's case, reports about Janet Pelasara's visit to Richmond and to Mathews County tell us that she is making sure the case does not lose its steam. On Tuesday, Ms. Pelasara made the drive to Richmond and spoke with members of the task force that is still actively investigating the death of her daughter. Ms. Pelasara says, "It was something I personally had to do. I wanted to see the faces. I wanted to meet the people who are working on this case." Taylor's mother says that there was only one person that she was not allowed to visit on her trip and that is the man suspected of killing Taylor. When Ms. Pelasara said that the investigators laughed when she asked if she could visit with Ben Fawley. Later, she made the trip over to Mathews County to meet with the Commonwealth's Attorney to discuss the investigation.
Ms. Pelasara continues to indicate that she has confidence in the manner the investigators are handling the case. She says, "They know better than me how to proceed with this case." She also said that there is still a lot of unanswered questions about Taylor's final day of life. She also said that prosecutors plan to present evidence to a Mathews County grand jury when they meet later this month. All indications are that an idictment is expected once the case is given to the grand jury. Probably the most frustrating of all is that the Medical Examiner's office still lists the cause of death as "pending." Janet says "The forensic tests are still being performed. The death certificate says 'pending,' which would lead one to believe that they are going to come up with a find." She discounts claims by Fawley that Taylor died during a consensual sexual encounter, saying that she believes that Taylor was not with Fawley of her own free will.

The only named suspect in Taylor's murder, Ben Fawley, was in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing on the 16 counts of child pornography charges. The case was continued until December 14, 2005. The private investigator hired by Taylor's family, Bubba Bates, said that the continuance will keep Fawley behind bars until the grand jury in Mathews County, where Taylor's remains were found, can convene on November 21, 2005. It is that grand jury that is expected to indict Fawley for the death of Taylor Behl.
Fawley is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the child pornography charges sometime today.
