Thank you to Gail for alerting me to the fact that one of Fawley's infamous websites has been completely shut down. If you have visited his Devian Art website, you would have been able to see a bunch of his pictures, and you could have read through some of his ramblings. When you go to his site now, you get a message that says, "Due to a pending legal investigation, this page has been closed. We would also like to state that this user has never been affiliated with the management of deviantART, Inc."
A screenshot of this message is posted below and to the left. Below and to the right is a screen shot taken several days ago of the same page. You may click either picture to get a larger image of the screen that appears.
NBC's Dateline will air Taylor's story Sunday night. Dateline plans to look into the investigation thus far. Knowing Dateline, they will likely have interviews with some of the key investigators in the case. Dateline Sunday is at 7 P.M. Eastern and 6 P.M. Central.
Not far from Taylor's dorm room, the citizens of Richmond, some friends some strangers, will come together tonight at 9 P.M. for a vigil and wreath laying ceremony in Monroe Park. Pastor Joe Ellison says this is the beginning of the healing process for many. I hope to have pictures of the vigil a little later tonight.
Please be sure to visit the Messages page to read comments left for Taylor, her family, her friends, and her fellow students. You may email your comments to me, and I will include them on the page. The email address is:

Taylor Behl's mother and father begin to prepare themselves for the finality of burying their 17-year old daughter. (Info on memorial services.) Taylor Behl left home to begin what is supposed to be the beginning of adulthood, college. Taylor chose to attend Virginia Commonwealth University located in Richmond, VA. VCU seemed like a great choice, as the campus is located just over 100 miles from the homes of both her mother and her father. Coming home on long weekends, the holiday break, spring break, and summers between school years, made VCU particularly attractive to both Taylor and her parents.
Alas, Taylor made only one trip home after leaving for her freshman year at VCU. Once she returned to the VCU dorm, she would never have the opportunity to make the trip home again. She would never get to experience a college "spring break," a rite of passage anticipated by nearly all college bound teens. The list of "things-Taylor-will-never-get-to-experience" is sadly, endless. Tragically, Taylor’s life would be cut short after only attending two weeks of her freshman year at university.
Speaking to NBC4 News, Janet Pelasara said that she has not come to grips with the fact that her daughter is gone. "I'm still completely numb," Janet Pelasara said. "I still can't imagine that my daughter was found in a shallow grave, decomposed, unrecognizable. They had to use her dental records. I think when all of this comes down, once the funeral happens, I think then that it will really hit me and I'll know that she's never coming home again."
Janet Pelasara has been the spearhead in keeping her daughter's face fresh in the minds of the public. She has appeared on numerous television broadcasts and has given many interviews to reporters. Throughout it all, she has remained stoic, giving matter-of-fact answers, all the while showing a determination to find her daughter. She told NBC4 News, "Once it really hits, once I deal with it, once the numbness goes away I think I will be a wreck." Asked if she was angry, she replied, "I don't know that anger would describe it," she said. "I think it would have to be something much, much more intense."
Richmond Police Chief, Rodney Monroe finally relented that Fawley is a suspect in Taylor’s death. Ben Fawley, who is being held in an isolation cell in Richmond, VA on charges unrelated to Behl, was at one time termed a “person of interest.” Police stopped using that moniker, stating the meaning was too closely associated with the word “suspect.” Now Chief Monroe says, “I don't think that I would be too far off base to say that he is a suspect in this case.” Chief Monroe also told the media that the cause of death was not yet determined. He says that it will be a matter of weeks before the case is completely resolved. Based on statements by other investigators, the case should be nothing short of a slam-dunk for prosecutors. Chief Monroe wants to make sure that is what happens, as he tells the media that they will take a couple of weeks and make sure they "dot all the "I's" and cross all the "T's."
On Wednesday, October 5, VCU investigators assigned to the Taylor Behl task force, traveled to a remote and abandoned farm located in the Diggs area of rural Mathews County, VA, to run down a new lead. The investigators found pictures of the abandoned farm and after showing it to an ex-girlfriend (Erin Crabill pictured at left) of Ben Fawley, who recognized the setting as one that Fawley had previously used as background for his amateur photography passion. Once the investigators arrived on the scene, they knew something was amiss; they could detect an odor that they recognized as the smell of death and decay. When they reported their initial observations back to the rest of the task force in Richmond, then subsequently discovered a shallow grave, a flurry of activity ensued.
Almost immediately, the lead investigators flew by state police helicopter to the remote farm. There they discovered unrecognizable human remains. Though the investigators would not commit to saying that the remains were those of the missing VCU coed, in their minds they knew. The clothing found with the remains matched the description of the attire Taylor wore the last time she was seen by her roommate. Probably the most telling hint was that they notified Taylor's family as a "courtesy" even though they told her that they could not identify the remains. Ms. Pelasara, Taylor's mother, did not need to wait for the police to make an official determination; as only a mother could, she knew that they had found her baby.
Upon exhuming the body from the shallow grave, located in dense foliage behind an outbuilding on the farm, the investigators then transported the body to the medical examiner’s office. Using dental records and DNA exemplars supplied by the family, the remains were identified as Taylor Behl. Once the family had been notified, police released the information to the media before noon on Thursday, October 6.
During a Thursday press conference, George O. Peterson, an attorney retained by Taylor's family early in the investigation, said that he believed that the strongest suspect was already in custody. Mr. Peterson stopped just short of naming Ben Fawley as that suspect, but he did not discourage the press questions that obviously pointed to Fawley.
Ms. Pelasara also spoke to the media saying that she hopes that justice can be swift, and called for the death penalty for the "sub-human" that killed her daughter. Thursday's announcements overshadowed what should have been a day of celebration for Janet Pelasara: it was her birthday. One week from Thursday would have been Taylor's 18th birthday.
The popular CNN show, Nancy Grace, will air a segment on tonight’s show. The show airs at 8 P.M. Eastern. If you miss the first airing of the show, it replays again at 10 P.M. Eastern, and again Saturday morning at 1 A.M. Eastern. For those not familiar with Nancy Grace, here is a short biography that is posted on the CCN website:
"Nancy Grace" is television's only justice themed/interview/debate show, designed for those interested in the justice stories of the day. Grace challenges guests on the most controversial and high-profile legal issues of the day by drawing on her unique perspective as a former violent crimes prosecutor and as a crime victim herself. Nancy Grace provides viewers with a clear understanding of not only the top trials, but also the cases often overlooked.
