Tomorrow night at 10:30 P.M., EDT, will mark the end of the fourth full week since the last time that anyone can confirm seeing Taylor Behl. Since then it is as if she has vanished into thin air. Though the police continue to issue statements that they have every confidence that the outcome of this case will end on a positive note, the public has heard nothing to support that claim.
Earlier today, three musical acts that are quickly gaining national attention, participated in a benefit concernt to help fund the Taylor Behl reward fund. Family and friends have already contributed $14,000.00 to the fund. The proceeds from today's concert have not yet been determined. VCU, where Taylor had begun her college career, and from where she disappeared, has put up a $20,000.00 reward.
The benefit concert received wide spread advertisement among Taylor's friends, family, and the Internet community. Daily bulletins were posted on MySpace.com, the website popular with many young people, including Taylor. Taylor's MySpace.com profile has moved to the number 1 spot when "googling" her name.
Janet Pelasara, Taylor's mother, returned home to Vienna after rushing to Richmond in the early morning hours of September 7. That is when she learned of her daughter's disappearance. While in Richmond, Ms. Pelasara has been the driving force behind keeping her daughter's name prominent in the media, both locally and nationally. Ms. Pelasara continues to maintain a positive hope that her daughter will return safely.
Just moments after the last update posted on this site, The Washington Post updated their website with an article about Taylor Behl's online life. The article discusses how the police are adapting to the world where cyberspace influences lifestyle and choices. When the police discover that someone spends time online, they begin searching for clues online. In the article, Ms. Pelasara acknowledges that she was aware that Taylor spent a lot of time online, but that she had no idea of the depth of the information contained in Taylor's journals.
Since the arrest of Ken Fawley, and the subsequent release of the details of the search warrant, the police have reported no new information. The police have searched several homes, taken at least two cars for forensic evaluation, and interviewed scores of people. The lastest information came in the form of the police request for public assistance in locating a personalized Virginia license plate.
Police continue to ask for the assistance of the public in locating the car on which this personalized Virginia "400th Anniversary" plate has been seen. If you see this plate, notify the Richmond Police Department, or the local police jurisdiction where you see it. Please try to note the type of car, a description of the driver, the place and time, and if there are any distintive markings on the car. If safe to do so, use a cell phone to make the report. Do not take any risks with your own safety, however. Call 877-244-HELP or 800-THE-LOST.
Beyond telling the media that the plate was reported missing during the same time frame that Taylor vanished. Police spokesperson Kirsten Nelson told the media, "The license plate means something to us but we are not prepared to say what at this time." Earlier reports indicated that the police suggest that the plate "may have been" in Fawley's possession at one time. The police do say the owner of the plate is in no way connected to the case.
